There was a bit of drama in the linden tree in the front yard this morning.
A pair of robins has already built a nest and they are apparently incubating
eggs. A Blue Jay was quite insistent that the contents of this nest should
be breakfast. There were a lot of excited chirps from the robins and
creeks/croaks from the blue jay. The blue jay was very reluctant to leave
the area, but finally did so (I might have helped convince it a little).
The robin is back on the nest now. Of course the linden is not leafed out,
so the nest is quite exposed. We'll see how that goes!

Checked the local ponds last night, and not a salamander to be seen. I
presume the cold temps have convinced them to hunker down in the detritus
and muck(?) No wood frogs vocalizing, and only a few hearty peepers. One
snipe calling from somewhere on the marsh.

Donna
