James, I have noticed less bird song in the mornings, by far, here at my wo=
odland farm site. They would always wake me up with the volume of singing. =
Not this year. I am seeing some successful pairs raising young, and getting=
them out and on the go early. Some species where I have a pair established=
in a certain area year after year seem to be doing well, increasing their =
local stronghold. Such as American Redstart, Alder Flycatcher and also Blac=
k-throated Green Warbler. Ovenbirds have been strong here as well as Thrush=
. But certain others are down for nesting populations, at least as detectab=
le by song, including Black-and-white Warbler, Northern Parula, and Magnoli=
a Warbler. Still present, but not in the numbers of past years. I have to d=
o another complete morning survey soon and "officially" compare numbers to =
same time last year.
