know that many more species were present over the summer on territory in t=
he places that we visited and they were absent on July 23. Also repre=
sentative numbers of the seven species of warblers that we did get were low=
. We had mostly juveniles with adults and most of the juveniles still=
with what I call peach fuzz. Very noticeably missing were common yel=
lowthroat, Magnolia warbler, blackburnian, and Canada warbler. We als=
o only found one yellow warbler. I always get blue-headed vireoand th=
ey were gone as were eastern wood pewees and least flycatchers. Alder=
flycatcher numbers were also down and this species is usually found the wh=
ole way along the route that I follow. So I think that it is more tha=
n just the warblers that are on the move early.
=20
