Having seen no notices about this event from either the Blomidon Naturalist=
s' Society or the N. S. Bird Society, I shall plan to be at Evangeline Beac=
h on Saturday to honour Dr. Tufts and encourage, as he did, younger birders=
to get out and observe, and to record and study the ecology and conservati=
on of all species.

In line with his advice to be at the viewing area about 2 hours before hig=
h tide and let the water bring the birds closer for better views, I shall p=
lan to be at the shorebird exhibit there by 1130. If there are too many pe=
ople or dogs on the beach there, we shall likely go The Guzzle. Robie's ot=
her favorite viewing spots are now mainly occupied by cottages. At high =
tide, we shall check any suitable pasture or cultivated areas on the Grand =
Pr=E9. (Does anyone know of sod farms in the area?) The warbler migration=
will be starting, so we shall check some areas near the NHP after for anyo=
ne wanting help with CFWs.

Watching for late swifts at the chimney (RWTufts Nature Centre) or taking i=
n the Perseid meteor shower while listening for migrants would be an approp=
riate way to spend the evening, but I hope that someone else can lead that =
part of the event, as my health may require me to leave earlier.

Cheers,

Wayne P. Neily
