Hi Richard. No, you have misunderstood my answer. The way email
works, you may receive mail from any provider over any connection. I can
use an Eastlink connection to read my Chebucto mail, an Aliant connection
to read my Eastlink mail and so on.

When you go to send a letter, you must use the SMTP (send
mail) server of your connection provider. To wit, if you are on an
Eastlink connection, you use the Eastlink SMTP server. If you are on
Aliant connectivity, you use the Aliant SMTP server. You cannot use
Eastlink's SMTP server from an Aliant connection, you cannot use Aliant's
SMTP server from an Eastlink connection and you can't use Chebucto's SMTP
server unless you are on our network.

So, to spell this out clearly, if you are on a highspeed network,
get them to tell you what their SMTP server is. Put that SMTP server in
your mail program settings where it asks for an SMTP server. You can still
download your mail from Chebucto and while we cannot speak for the
policies of other providers, you should still be able to have your
outgoing mail say it is from richard@chebucto.ns.ca and only someone
examining the full mail headers of your message would know any different.
