Hi. I was wondering if the message below may be posted on the Sustainable Maritimes Listserve. I am trying to find some information about alternatives. I was also wondering if people would be able to email me directly if they did not want to post a reply on the listserve (I don't really know how this works). Anyway, if for whatever reason this pre-statement is not clear please let me know. Thanks Billie-Jean I am writing this message to try and find some information regarding sewage sludge on agricultural lands. Essentially the case is such that sewage sludge is being spread on agricultural land. Some members of the community strongly appose this and are mounting efforts to challenge this practice. So this brings me to ask if anyone knows of some alternatives to this practice. We are also wondering if there is anyone out there who knows something about the "Living Machine" - it is apparently a plant system that is used in sewage treatment. I have been told that there may be a community in Nova Scotia (maybe Bear River) that is using this or another alternative way to deal with sewage sluge (especially with the heavy metals in the sewage). Anyway, if there is anyone out there that can help direct me to some information it would be really appreciated.
