Straw Bale Construction

Plastered straw bale construction has been used for many years to build everything from luxury mansions to low-income housing. It is a technology which has proven itself over the last century to be durable, highly fire resistant, non-toxic, and structurally superior to many other systems used today.

Straw is an annually renewable resource that creates highly insulated buildings which are both warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Because straw bale construction is low-tech, many owners readily become involved in the design and construction process of their projects. This in and of itself can help integrate and reclaim a portion of our fragmented lives, while at the same time tapping into the power which lies in us to align the whole, to get in touch with our own magic.

"Shelter is ultimately a very personal space and place. In it one becomes involved in a continuously changing process which is essential to our well being, mentally, physically, and spiritually. The use and development of materials that promote the health of the earth reflect this state as well."
