Hi all

I=E2=80=99m not exactly 100% on board with Darrell except that =
I=E2=80=99m against it as well. I absolutely agree too that as a hiker, =
I rarely come across a hunter in the woods but not because I=E2=80=99m =
non-existent. When I see a truck/car parked next to my favourite trail =
during deer hunting season, I know better than to go in there. =
(I=E2=80=99m not worried I=E2=80=99ll scare a deer, I=E2=80=99m afraid =
I=E2=80=99ll get shot). Many deer hunters I know look forward to taking =
a week off during hunting season to sit in/near their apple laden deer =
stands enjoying the peace and quiet of the woods in hope that a buck =
comes along. As a hiker, I have never been able to take a week off to =
hike given that my passion could be equally as strong as the hunting =
passion. Do I pay a fee to hike, no, but I=E2=80=99m not harvesting =
animals that I have an equal right to be able to observe without =
harming. I do not feel I should have to dress grandchildren in hunter =
orange with another one for the dog to go back to the camp on Sunday? =
I=E2=80=99m not sure that I can explain that as we try to get our =
children reconnected with our wonderful provincial outdoors.

I know that the hunting community does great things with the revenue =
generated from this activity but I also feel that there should be some =
fairness with regard to the use of the woodlands so considering hunters =
would get 26 potential days of hunting in a four week period and =
non-hunters would get 4 during that time, it seems unbalanced as it is =
let alone lifting the ban on Sunday hunting.

Dave

I agree 100 % Darrell.=20
I started going in the woods in NS since I came here in 1955,=20
and have never meet any scarey moments. Why I even meet folks on the =
trails=20
in broad daylight carrying big sticks to beat of the coyotes or so they =
say.=20
Now that is what I call paranoid.=20
My only advice to hikers if hunting is open, be careful after sundown.=20
Enjoy the winter=20

I am a hunter but still against it, for the reason of giving the =
animals one day free from human pressure, not for non existing hikers in =
the country side.=20

For perspective, many hunters only get Saturday to hunt, to pay the =
money and only get 4 days in the woods is not worth it. Too many deer =
and the herd needs to be culled.=20

Another reason is the natives get to hunt 7 days a week/365 and it is =
not fair that they get free rein while others do not. This bias and =
discriminatory practice has to stop. All people should be treated =
equally and fairly as not to cause tensions. The government has to stop =
the free for all harvesting by natives. All animals have a harvest =
season and limits and all people should abide by them. =20

It would be nice to see some rational thinkers in the naturalist =
community, it would go a long way.=20

Simply look at the shooting accidents, they are near zero, to be =
afraid to go in the woods in hunting season is down right ridiculous.=20

I=E2=80=99m shocked the Nova Scotia government is even considering =
allowing hunting on Sundays. If you don=E2=80=99t want to lose both =
weekend days for wintertime recreation in the woods, please take a =
moment to answer these 3 questions.
