Who We Are Workshops Scholarships What Resources Membership

Founded in 1978 as an exhibition / distribution centre for electronic arts, the Centre was restructured in 1983 to include accessible production facilities for video and audio. Over the past years hundreds of video and sound works have been created. They include the genres of: documentary, experimental, drama, music videos, animation, installation components, digital computer art, as well as numerous community projects. The audio facilities have been important in the development of local musicians and audio artists.

The Centre is a member - run organization with membership open to anyone interested in exploring the media or producing their own work. Producer members can access facilities and equipment at subsidized rates. Members may also use Centre facilities to work on community, industrial, or commercial projects. Member rates for these projects are non-subsidized, and competitive. The Centre has accommodated producers interested in cable television, educational media, non-commercial media art and other related fields.

As a resource for artists and community groups, the Centre offers information on producing works, writing grants and organizing festivals. Our various programs have brought together artists, musicians and performers, technicians, professionals and students to explore, create and exchange ideas. The Centre is committed to the ongoing development of creative pursuits in the media arts, providing the community with training in a supportive learning environment.
