In the fall of 2003, Hurricane Juan caused washout damage to the Cassy Bridge site on Drew's Hill Road just landward of the metal culvert

Minister of Natural Resources Richard Hurlbert, Minister of Environment (and our MLA) Kerry Morash, MLA Carolyn Bolivar-Getson and several community residents walked out through the washout in the Drew's Hill Road to view the location of the burial grounds

May 4, 2004
NS Transportation and Public Works erected public safety barriers at the washout site

May 5, 2004
NS Transportation and Public Works dug out the damage, installed two plastic culverts and repaired the road.

May 6, 2004
DNR staff (under direction of DNR Area Supervisor Ron Lawson) dug up the road, removed two plastic culverts and infilled with rock "because David Himmelman didn't like the way it had been done" (Gerry Joudrey phone conversation July 27)
