GLOSSARY OF TERMS

RAM:
                
 - Random Access Memory. An area inside the computer
                 set aside for working and storing data. The contents of
                 this type of memory are lost when a computer is turned off.

ROM:
                
 - Read Only Memory. Memory that is contained on a
                 chip on the motherboard. It typically contains instructions
                 necessary to run one or more components of a computer. The
                 contents of this type of memory are not lost when the
                 computer is turned off.
 
- 
Root Directory:
                
 - The top-most files area directory of a disk or flash
                 drive. From this directory, sub-directories containing files
                 that are typically related to each other branch out.
 
- 
Run:
                
 - To start the operation of a program.
